iSumsoft Word Protection Refixer is a specialized tool designed to recover or remove passwords from Microsoft Word documents. If you are locked out of an essential DOC or DOCX file, this guide provides a clear, step-by-step walkthrough to regain access. Prerequisites Before You Begin
Download and install the software from the official iSumsoft website.
Ensure you have the password-protected Word document saved on your local storage.
Close Microsoft Word to prevent file access conflicts during the recovery process. Step 1: Import the Locked Document Launch iSumsoft Word Protection Refixer on your computer.
Click the Add File button (represented by an open folder icon) at the top of the interface.
Browse your local directories, select your protected Word document, and click Open. Step 2: Choose and Configure the Attack Type
The software offers four distinct password recovery methods. Selecting the right one significantly reduces recovery time.
Brute-Force: Tries every possible character combination. Use this if you remember nothing about the password.
Mask: Uses clues you provide. Ideal if you remember specific details, such as the starting letter, total length, or character types (numbers only, lowercase only).
Dictionary: Tests words from a built-in or custom text file library. Best for passwords that use common words or phrases.
Smart: Automatically applies various character combinations based on common password patterns.
Tip: If using the Mask attack, navigate to the Range tab to specify the minimum/maximum length and character sets to speed up the process. Step 3: Execute the Recovery
Click the Start button (green play icon) on the top menu bar.
Monitor the progress bar as the software processes the combinations.
Keep your computer connected to a power source, as complex passwords may require extensive processing time. Step 4: Retrieve and Save Your Password
Once successful, a dialogue box will pop up displaying your recovered password.
Click the Copy button to copy the password to your clipboard.
Click Open to launch your document directly, then paste the password to unlock your file.
